Muscle Relaxing Treatment. Removing Facial Wrinkles.
Every patient is unique and has individual therapeutic needs. We strives to provide more good days to every patient by investigating novel and flexible neurotoxin treatment options.
What is botulinum neurotoxin?
Botulinum neurotoxin is a very complex substance produced by bacteria. Botulinum neurotoxin attaches itself exclusively to nerve cells that activate the muscular system or specific glands – effectively and accurately blocking an overactive muscle or gland. The effect is reversible after a certain period of time (depending on dosage and injection location), so that repetition of the injection is typically necessary.
What is muscle relaxing treatment?
Muscle relaxing treatment is used to reduce the activity of the muscles that cause lines to form over time. The products utilized for muscle relaxing can vary. We use safe, reliable products such as Dysport, Botox and Xeomin. These are purified proteins produced from clostridium botulinum bacterium. They work by temporarily reducing the contractions of these muscles. They provide unparalleled treatment for frown lines, horizontal forehead lines, periorbital lines, also known as crows’ feet and “kiss” lines around the mouth. Muscle Relaxing treatment can drastically soften the appearance of these lines.
How does it work?
The treatment blocks signal transmission at the nerve junctions to the facial muscles, relaxing them. Muscle Relaxing treatment is typically aimed at partial muscle blockage, in order to relax facial muscles without stiffening them, but rather allowing for a natural facial expression. When the facial muscles are blocked, it allows the skin over them to renew its elasticity, removing wrinkles. The injections can provide magnificent results. This treatment however, cannot remove the appearance of excess or sagging skin. It may therefore be a suggestion for patients over 60 years of age to perhaps consider a surgical facelift. The muscle relaxing anti-wrinkle treatment takes only a few minutes to carry out. The results can be seen almost immediately.
The treatment is a popular treatment for wrinkles and facial lines. The procedure helps to smooth away troublesome:
- Frown lines
- Forehead lines
- Bunny lines
- Eyebrows shaping
- Crows feet
- Lip lines
- Marionette lines & Sad smile
- Dimpled chin
- Platysmal bands
- For most individuals, the injections cause a mild discomfort.
- Positive results can typically be seen between four and fourteen days.
- The Muscle Relaxing anti-wrinkle treatment takes only a few minutes.
- You will notice a significant improvement in the appearance of your skin within only a few days.
- Results last for three to five months.
Do not have this treatment if:
- You are pregnant, and/or are breastfeeding. The first treatment after pregnancy/breastfeeding not early then 6 months.
- There are certain neurological conditions, which can be made worse by the use of certain medications e.g antibiotics, which may not be appropriate with botulinum toxin.
Frequency of Treatment:
The treatment last for approximately three months. However the length of the success can depend on a persons use of facial expressions: how often, how severe etc. The recommendation is for clients to return for a further treatment every three months or thereabouts. A consultation with your cosmetologist will confirm the appropriate times. A recommendation is to have Muscle Relaxing treatments every three months for one year, with follow up maintenance treatments taking place every six months.
Most side effects experienced by patients are short lived and are linked to the injections e.g. mild discomfort upon injection, redness, mild swelling and bruising at treatment sites. The Swelling effect could last for 2 to 4 weeks depending on the condition of the lymphatic system and ageing, as this needs to adapt to the product used. If you are prone to bruising we recommend taking homeopathic Arnica 7 days prior to this treatment and Arnica cream on the treated area after treatment. Side effect such as a ptosis (drooping of the upper eyelid) is a temporary side effect and will resolve when the chosen product has diluted.
“Treatment success is totally reliant on having the right product in the hands of the right person. So do your homework thoroughly!”
