As we age, our skin inevitably loses its youthful appearance as the production of natural dermal volumisers and moisturisers such as hyaluronic acid (HA) diminish, leaving lines and wrinkles where our skin once was youthful, even and radiant. Today, the signs and symptoms of the natural ageing process can be reduced by replacing lost hyaluronic acid.
Dermafillers – The Treatment
Prior to any filler treatment, we always invite our visitors to a free consultation to ensure we find the best way forward for you. Dermal fillers, made from Hyaluronic Acid, are the most popular volume enhancing treatments and are often used to reduce facial lines and to restore plumpness to the lips and cheeks, redefining the shape of your face. Producing safe, long-lasting and natural looking results, dermal fillers are increasingly popular.
Dr Quant has a friendly approach where she will listen to your concerns offering appropriate treatments as well as benefits and any associated risks.
There are many fillers on the market that are substandard. We use only the highest quality brands of temporary fillers, includingMerz, Galderma and Allergan which are renowned for their superior results. More importantly, we are qualified and certified doctors to inject fillers. The treatment is extremely quick and results are instant – with many patients opting to put make-up on immediately afterwards and head straight back to work.

Intelligent design in aesthetics
The dermafillers let you achieve predictable and harmonious results by tailoring an approach that optimises the balance of the 3 essential properties elasticity, cohesivity and plasticity. The fillers can be used individually or in combination to tailor an aesthetic solution for each patient depending on the skin’s structural and functional needs.
Lines and wrinkles are smoothed out and the skin appears plumper and younger. Areas lacking in volume and shape now have more definition, with a fuller appearance.
Dermafillers are a popular treatment for wrinkles and facial lines. A dermafiller procedure helps to ‘fill out’ and smooth away troublesome:
- Nose to mouth grooves
- Forehead lines
- Frown furrows
- Lipstick lines
- Acne pits
- Crows feet
Dermafillers are also effective for increasing fullness to narrow lips, restoring your beautiful smile, enhancing sunken cheeks and can even be used to contour the bridge of the nose.
Injections of a dermafiller treatment consist of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid, which helps to replace the reduced amounts of dermal tissue present in ageing skin. Hyaluronic acid, a natural component of dermal tissue, helps to bind water in the skin, something we normally lose over time. Dermafiller is a very safe product for reshaping the contours of the face without surgery.
None. You can go back to work immediately after your treatment and you can apply make-up over the treated area.
What should I do before having Dermal Fillers?
It can be used immediately, without preparation. We recommend patients to ensure they go to a reputable clinic. Ask who will be performing the treatment and how much experience they have got. We believe that only healthcare professionals should be allowed to inject the filler. Ask what type of fillers they will be using, whether permanent or temporary, so that you are able to make an informed choice. In our opinion temporary fillers are safer and results more predictable. Finally should they use a brand you don’t recognise, ask more information on the company producing them. We have always been using only reputable suppliers, such as Galderma for Juvéderm, Merz for Belotero and Radiesse and only products with high safety standards and which are long established.
What does the treatment involve?
Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. The gel helps to plump up the skin, thereby smoothing out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller appearance. Our policy is ‘less is more’ so we will always aim to give you a natural, subtle look.
Do the injections hurt?
The perfect dermafiller would be comparatively inexpensive, safe, relatively painless to inject, hypoallergenic, and long lasting. Most dermal fillers include an added anaesthetic, which makes the treatment virtually painless. Lips and nasolabial folds will require a local anaesthetic or dental block. A superficial anaesthetic cream (Lidocaini 5%) will be applied for other areas by request, and can help to relieve any potential discomfort during the ten to fifteen minute procedures.
How long does the treatment take?
The length of the treatment will depend on the areas being filled, but generally the procedure takes about 30 minutes.
How soon will I see the results?
Dermal fillers work instantly so you’ll see the results straight away.
How long will the results last?
The effects will fade gradually but should last between 4 and 13 months depending on the treatment, at which point you can come back to us for a top up treatment. If you decide not to continue with the injections the gel will biodegrade in the skin and simply disappear.
Are there any side effects?
There will be some redness, tenderness and swelling around the treated area immediately after the injection. You might also feel an itching sensation. All side effects should subside after a couple of hours.
Post treatment you may experience any of the following: mild swelling, redness, slight discomfort, tenderness or bruising at the injection site. We recommend homeopathic Arnica 7 days prior to treatment for those who bruise easily. If you suffer from cold sores we advise the use of topical acyclovir (zovirax) 7 days pre and post treatment.
